Meet Buttercup, also known as “Party Shoes”, Breyer on the cantering welsh pony mold. Produced from 2004-2005, this model was a part of the “My Favorite Horse” series. (Identify Your Breyer) I admit, the CWP, as it’s known in the hobby is a cute model, but not one I collected. She’s the pony belonging to the main character in this month’s free short story for my membership group, Muse Happens.

My initial model horse collection tended to run to the thoroughbreds and appaloosa/paint horses. These days, my collection seems to be growing in leaps and bounds based on the stories I’m writing and the characters within them. My childhood and young adult Christmases were filled with square boxes from Sears wrapped under the tree, because a lot of my collection came from the Sears Wish book. They’re still some of my favorite models.

These days, my collecting is driven by the horses that appear in my stories. Or maybe the unicorns, since I have what collectors affectionately call a “conga line” behind me and they’re going to show up in Through A Portal Storm. I’m also finding my tastes are shifting towards the unicorns and the rainbow painted/brilliantly colored models.

But for now, enjoy Buttercup, and I’ll have her and her rider’s story available before the end of the month.
