As we approach the end of 2025 and enter into 2026 I want to wish everyone a happy and gentle new year! May you be safe this evening if you celebrate, and may next year be kind to all of us.

Although I have writing to do today, so I won’t have an official-official writing word count for 2025, looking at my spreadsheet I wrote nearly as much as I did in 2020, which was the first year I’ve been working from home. I really changed how I write, and how I look at what I’m writing, and I think that helped the productivity and the enjoyment with which I approached my writing.

If there was one thing I didn’t do well in 2025, that was release what I’ve written and then promote it. I suspect I’m in good company with the later. The good news for the former is that my goal after I finish a couple of other projects is to finish getting what I’ve written in 2025 released, which includes really diving into my young adult fantasy that is set in the same world as my fantasy stories.

My plans for 2026 are simple. Continue to be kind to myself and treat myself with grace and treat my writing as something I do for me, though I hope you enjoy it too. Release those young adult books and keep going with more fantasy releases. I am also hoping to write some romantasy that are a cross between the equestrian romances I wrote as Mary Kit Caelsto but set in the large fantasy world that I continue to write in.

We’ll see what 2026 brings. I am looking forward to changing the calendars and putting the challenges of 2025 behind me. I am not alone in saying this was a rough year, for many reasons, including my health, my schooling, and some other stuff. I am hoping that 2026 is better for all of us!
