I admit, when Breyer first came out with their Mini Whinnies line of model horses (1:64) I thought they were a gimmick. They are micro miniatures, much smaller than stablemates, which are about 4″ high and my favorite line of model horses. (Less storage space). But since I like to buy a blind bag when I go to the farm store to get feed, I decided on a whim to pick up a mini whinnies blind bag. And I admit, I’m hooked.

A wooden shelf showing two groups of miniature model horses. One shelf has two, a blue roan and a chestnut horse. The other has four unicorns in gold, pink, purple and light blue.
My entire mini whinnies collection. You can almost see the stablemates scale models next to them. Look how tiny they are.

I then got a castle surprise, which had three of the four unicorns in it. Did someone mention unicorns? It’s obvious how unicorn-crazy i am. And then I picked up one other blind bag, making two actual horses.

Because they’re so small the detail doesn’t really show up, but they are detailed for being such tiny models. They also don’t stand the best. But in spite of that, they are tiny and cute, and the price is right.

I think it’s just yet another way in which my model horse collecting expresses itself, and if it provides for a little fun and novelty, then I’m all here for that. I hope you enjoy them too.
