As the year winds down it’s a time for us to think about the months gone by and the season ahead. Though it’s been rainy here in the Ozarks, something this homesteader and equestrian is happy for (moisture to grow hay this spring!), and snow is often hard to come by until after the new year, the goal is warm and cozy time spent with friends, family, and loved ones including fur and feathered family. No matter what you celebrate or if you do, I am extending the warmest and coziest greetings to you.

Here on the homestead we don’t do much. I have very little family left and can’t travel because I have to care for the livestock. The horses and chickens can’t read a calendar, and likewise in the house, the cats are too busy sleeping to check the calendars. They’ll get extra attention and treats (as will my spouse), and we’ll be cooking a large meal that will probably feed us for a few days.

Know that I am sending well wishes for a gentle holiday season and hoping that you will be kind to yourself in a new year.
