Horses show up in a variety of books from romances to weird westerns to historical, to fantasy, and probably literary along with other genres that I can’t even think of at the moment. And one of the biggest frustrations that anyone who loves something has is when an author gets it wrong, horribly, terribly, no good, very bad, oh my god, wrong. That’s a lot of wrong.

I’ve had the thought in the back of my mind that I need to put together a course or something on writing about horses. I mean one of my first published articles was one called “Sunlight and Air” in a RWA newsletter about how horses in romance novels can’t live on sunlight and air and need to be fed, watered, and cared for regardless of genre.

I recently volunteered to read a manuscript to check to make sure the horse aspects were written correctly and that got me to thinking. I would like to work not just on a class, but on something more.

I’m still putting my thoughts together, and given where I’m at on my 7-dimensional to do list, it may be a while before I can start, but my question is — what do you want to learn about horses?
